Special Report: Fundrise – AI’s Projected Market Value: The $20 Trillion Opportunity

By: | Tags: | Comments: 0 | December 30th, 2024

On Christmas Eve, I came across a fascinating report on Artificial Intelligence (AI) from Fundrise. Based in Washington D.C., Fundrise LLC is a financial services company with approximately $3 billion in assets under management (AUM). While their largest allocation is in real estate, I expected the report to focus on AI’s infrastructure. However, what I found was a far broader analysis.

The report begins by revisiting the major technological trends since 1980—mainframes, personal computers (PCs), the internet, mobile technologies, and the cloud. Fundrise analyzed over 250 tech companies over the past 44 years and their conclusions are eye-opening.

The report projects that AI will follow the trajectory of previous transformative technologies and become the next major wave. Historically, each previous wave has tripled in market capitalization compared to its predecessor. By 2032, AI is projected to exceed a market cap of $21 trillion, continuing this pattern of exponential growth.

Key Findings:

  • Historical Growth Trends: Each technological wave has significantly expanded market cap, largely driven by advancements in computing power. AI is expected to follow suit, with a potential 3x increase in value over the cloud wave, reaching an estimated $21 trillion by 2032.

  • Tech Stack Value Distribution:
    • Applications (48%): AI applications will dominate the value chain, similar to the trends seen with mobile and cloud technologies.
    • Platforms (26%): AI platforms will play a crucial role in enabling applications and ecosystems.
    • Hardware (25%): Hardware will remain foundational, especially given AI’s heightened computational demands compared to previous tech waves.

Investment Implications:

  • Applications: Early-stage opportunities for venture capital as AI software solutions scale.
  • Platforms: Mid-stage developments are poised for exponential growth.
  • Hardware: Established companies like Nvidia are already capturing significant value in this space.

Broader Market Context: While AI is projected to reach a market cap of $21 trillion, its value could range between $10 trillion and $50 trillion, depending on factors such as the pace of innovation, market competition, and adoption rates.

Fundrise Strategic Takeaways for Investors:

Investors should consider opportunities across all layers of the AI stack. While applications are expected to capture the largest share, platforms and hardware will remain vital, particularly due to the infrastructure required to scale AI globally.

About HealthScoreAI™

Healthcare is at a tipping point, and HealthScoreAI is positioning to revolutionize the industry by giving consumers control over their health data and unlocking its immense value. U.S. healthcare annual spending has reached $5 trillion with little improvement in outcomes. Despite advances, technology has failed to reduce costs or improve care. Meanwhile, 3,000 exabytes of consumer health data remain trapped in fragmented USA systems, leaving consumers and doctors without a complete picture of care.

HealthScoreAI seeks to provide a unique solution, acting as a data surrogate for consumers and offering an unbiased holistic view of their health. By monetizing de-identified data, HealthScoreAI seeks to share revenue with consumers, potentially creating a new $100 billion market opportunity. With near-universal EHR adoption in the USA, and advances in technology, now is the perfect time to capitalize on the data available, practical use of AI and the empowering of consumers, in particular the 13,000 tech savvy baby boomers turning 65 every single day and entering the Medicare system for the first time.  Our team, with deep healthcare and tech expertise, holds U.S. patents and a proven track record of scaling companies and leading them to IPO.
